Health Science


Do you enjoy helping others? Does your adrenaline start pumping when you see an ambulance rushing to the scene of an accident to save lives? Then the Randolph Health Science Academy is for you!
This program complements classroom instruction with real-world experiences in hospitals, nursing homes, laboratories and similar institutions.

The content includes communication skills, leadership skills, employability skills, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, clinical internships, and CNA licensure program. In addition, the business portion of training will provide broad transferable skills which focus planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, labor issues, community, health, safety, and environmental issues. Because of the increased use of computers within the Health Care professions, students will receive training through the IT Academy in Office Systems Technology. Many courses in the program provide students the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school.

At APR you will learn:

  • Principles of patient care
  • Long Term Care - Nursing Centers/Hospitals.
  • Medical Terminology
  • First Responder
  • Home Health Aide Skills
  • Health Information Management
  • CPR Certification each year
  • Legal and Ethical standards for health care
  • Basic healthcare skills

Transition to College:

  • Earn college credit through dual enrollment with Florida Community College at Jacksonville
  • Take advantage of a wide variety of program offerings from short term certificates to credits toward two-year degrees
  • Transfer credit to university programs

Transition to Career:

Our strong relationship with area hospitals and other institutions ensures that our students receive maximum consideration and attention from our health care community. The Health Academy is a combination of classroom studies and clinical rotations that provide experience in nursing, pre-medicine, pharmacology, and related services.

The State Board of Nursing approves APR as a test site for the Certified Nurse Assistant Exam. Our students take their exam in their Junior Year, giving them the opportunity to begin working as a CNA in the senior year as part of the Work Program.
