Technology at Crystal Springs Elementary
Kids are the key to Americas future and computers are the tools of the time. By the year 2020, virtually every job in America will require some use of technology. These are the reasons for the Fundamental Skills Program with Computer Enhancement at Crystal Springs Elementary School. Beyond the benefit of the future, computers capture childrens attention- and keep it. Computers make learning come alive and create learning experiences that werent possible before. Technology and education are a powerful combination.
The Computer Lab at Crystal Springs is a 34 student stationed lab, where K- 5 and TMH students come to learn computer and researching skills. It is staffed with a full time Technology Resource Teacher. Students are taught different software programs that relate to their classroom studies along with learning proper computer vocabulary and processes.
Our school is networked. Every classroom has 4 to 5 iMac computers. At present we have 30 PCs, 255 iMacs and 150 MacBooks for student use.
We also have six Smart Boards which are interactive white boards used to help teach new software to a large class. These boards also come in handy during faculty or large group presentations. We also are equipped with digital cameras, document cameras, and projectors.
We have over 80 different software titles and web based programs. Our computers are also utilized for progress monitoring testing.
The teachers in our program have completed more than 200 hours of computer service. They are committed to utilizing technology and multimedia as instructional tools.
