Early
check out procedures are listed below:

Early check out ends 30 minutes prior to the end of the
school day.

An
official picture ID MUST be presented each time a student is
dismissed.

Students MUST be signed out by an authorized person only (18
years of age or older) as listed on their Student
Information Card.

The Darnell-Cookman Guidance
Department would like to invite all parents and guardians to
attend Parent Information Night on Tuesday, October 6, 6:30
pm to 8:30 pm. There will be 15 mini-sessions to
choose from to help answer your questions.

Progress Reports
were issued on September 24. If your student did not bring
one home then you can contact the guidance office for a
duplicate.

The OnCourse
Parent Portal is open for parents and students to view grades
and attendance online. You can now check grades and attendance online by
going to:
https://dcps.mygradeportal.com
Remember you
must use your district/school provided user ID and password for
access to the grade portal. User IDs and Passwords may be obtained
in person, with a picture ID, from
Mrs. Buzbee in the Media Center. Due to computer security
measures, parent passwords cannot be distributed over the telephone,
by email, by postal mail, or sent home with a student.

New School
Hours: Students should arrive by 8:15 am
with the late bell ringing at 8:25 am. Students are
dismissed at 2:40 pm on regular school days and at 1:25 pm on
early dismissal days.

Backpack Information: Absolutely no backpacks with wheels. Backpacks must
be able to fit in lockers and are not allowed to be carried
during the school day. Maximum backpack dimensions:
18"h x 16"w x 9"d.

Darnell-Cookman Middle/High School
announced as a
National Blue Ribbon School.
The No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon
Schools award distinguishes and honors schools for helping
students achieve at very high levels and for making significant
progress in closing the achievement gap.

The Florida
Department of Education recently announced that 18 Duval County
Public Schools were named 2007-2008 Five Star Schools. This
symbol of achievement was created by the Commissioner's
Community Involvement Council and is presented annually to those
schools that have shown evidence of exemplary community
involvement. This designation is the highest award for community
participation.
“This is a
great achievement for our schools,”
said Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals. “The Five Star School
Award is the highest award for community involvement that is
bestowed by the Florida Department of Education.”
