Pearl Roziers Principal Pearl Roziers received her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida in 2003. She has 28 years of educational experience in a variety of settings. Before being appointed Principal at Kernan Trail Elementary (KTE), Mrs. Roziers was Principal at Rufus E. Payne Elementary. Mrs. Roziers has served Duval County School District in several capacities including Principal, Acting Principal, Vice Principal, Assistant Principal, Speech/Language Pathologist, First Grade classroom teacher, Second Grade classroom teacher, District Resource Teacher, Reading First Coach and School based Instructional Coach. Mrs. Roziers is recognized in the district as a life-long learner with a proven record for academic excellence. While serving as a school based Instructional Coach, she was the catalyst in assisting the primary teachers at Rufus Payne Elementary in receiving state recognition as one of the top five Reading First Schools in Duval County for two consecutive years. She facilitated sessions at district and state conferences as well as serving as a mentor to other Reading and Standards Coaches. Under Mrs. Roziers leadership, students and teachers have been the recipients of innovative instructional strategies that have led to total student success. When she came to Rufus Payne in 2002, students were struggling academically and the school had received a grade of “F” on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). She was responsible for restructuring the academic schedule for teachers and it was under her leadership that Rufus Payne received its highest level of academic achievement in 2009 with a school grade of “A” on the FCAT. When arriving at Kernan Trail Elementary in 2009, a comprehensive plan was implemented by Mrs. Roziers to assist Kernan Trail in not only maintaining a school grade of “A”, but also making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). Within her first year at KTE teacher instructional schedules were readjusted, content subject PLCs were introduced and teachers were making instructional decisions based on student data. By her second year, Kernan Trail had made its ninth consecutive school grade of “A” and made AYP. If you want to know the latest from Mrs. Roziers, click on her Web Page.
