The Florida
Theatre located on
1298 East Forsyth Street is home to many entertainers, top artist, and
educational programs. This remarkable theatre has provided the community with
programs to entertain, empower, educate and inspire. In the many years that this
theatre has been open, it has hosted 3,300 different events of all kinds
attended by well over 3 million people. For the past years the Florida Theatre has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life, liberty, and the pursuit
of happiness in greater Jacksonville. Respected by the many talented artist that perform at the Florida Theatre, the theatre originally opened on April 8, 1927, as downtown's fifteenth theatre. The luxurious interior of the Florida was designed by R.E. Hall of New York and Jacksonville architect Roy Benjamin. All though the Florida Theatre is quite old the building still stands and continues to serve the community with many talented performers.
