Jacksonville Commitment

The Jacksonville Commitment is a unique city-wide partnership among Duval County Public Schools, the city of Jacksonville and UNF, JU, FSCJ, and EWC.  The Jacksonville Commitment provides full college tuition funding for the recipients of its scholarships, enabling them to attend, if admitted, one of the four partner postsecondary institutions and giving them access to a network of college support and retention services.

The scholarship offered through the Jacksonville Commitment addresses the college-related financial needs of low income students.   It allows the recipients of the scholarship to attend college without paying college tuition.  In most cases, it also provides money to cover room and board as well as the cost of books.

In order to qualify for the scholarships, Duval County Public School students must be on Free or Reduced Lunch.  In order to receive the scholarship, students must   apply to and be accepted to JU, UNF, FSCJ, or EWC as a Florida resident.

In addition to the scholarship, the Jacksonville Commitment offers a host of college access and support services designed to provide its students with students the knowledge, skills, and exposure crucial to gaining college admission and achieving college persistence. Services, which are free and open to all eligible Lee High School students, include help with applications, college advising, financial aid nights, campus tours, and college awareness meetings.

Interested students and parents at Robert E. Lee High School can contact the Jo Carlisle, the Lee High School Jacksonville Commitment College Advisor.  Her office is located in the Media Center, room 304-A, on the third floor of Robert E. Lee High School.  She may be also reached by telephone at (904) 381-3930 X214 or by email at jo.carlisle@unf.edu.   Stop by anytime!
