Third Grade News

Welcome to the Third Grade!

We have had a successful first quarter in third grade and are looking forward to accomplishing many exciting things during our second quarter.

In Reading, students should have read 625 pages at this time.  By the end of November students should have logged 875 pages.  When a student finishes a book, he/she should be able to summarize the story and discuss the plot. Be sure to ask your children about what they are reading!

We are moving into Report Writing. Now is a great time to head to the library and check out some non-fiction books.  These are a great model for non-fiction writing.

Students are starting multiplication in Math. Working with flash cards for multiplication facts is very helpful.

We continue to learn about how scientists work and the properties of solids, liquids, and gas during Science. In Social Studies, we are enjoying our study of American Indian culture.

We have a field trip scheduled to Tree Hill in March.

Thank you for the wonderful participation in this year’s fall festival. It was a huge success!
