Kindergarten News
2nd Quarter

In Kindergarten this quarter we will be working on lots of new things. In reading, we are continuing to work on beginning sounds, blending and segmenting words, and then vowel sounds. It's important that you read everyday to your child at home and continue practicing rhyming words. In math, we are starting to work on measurement. We will be comparing objects and thinking about different ways we can decide between longer, shorter, heavier and lighter. Keep working with your child on recognizing numbers as well as counting objects one by one. In writing, we will be starting to write both functional and persuasive pieces. Be sure that you are having your students practice writing every single week. In science, we are working on push and pull, motion, sounds, gravity and starting day and night. There will also be lots of holiday parties and our field trip to the Hands On Museum this quarter, so please let your teacher know if you are interested in volunteering. Thank you for all you do and Happy Holidays!
