Dance
Debra Rankin, Instructor
We
want all of our students at Pine Forest to succeed, so please
make every effort to send your child dressed correctly to dance
class each week. The weekly dance schedule is also included. We
ask that the students come to school dressed in their dance clothes.
Girls can wear shorts or a jumper over their leotard and tights.
Boys can wear their dance pants and white T-shirt to school. These
are acceptable as school uniforms for dance days. If necessary,
they can bring clothes to change into after dance class. Please
label all of their belongings with a permanent marker so if dropped
or left behind we can return it to the correct person. |
BOYS:
- BLACK SWEAT PANTS – must be fitted
at waist and ankle.
- BLACK SPORTS SHORTS – for warmer
days
- WHITE T-SHIRT – buy a package
of Hanes T-shirts or A-shirts
- WHITE SOCKS AND BLACK DANCE SHOES –
buy black canvas or leather ballet shoes
GIRLS:
- Black leotard – short sleeved, tank
or camisole styles
- THEATRICAL PINK TIGHTS – Buy
stockings with a whole foot or convertible foot
- PINK CANVAS OR LEATHER BALLET SLIPPERS
– Do NOT buy Danskin Now Ballet Slippers at Wal-Mart or
Target. They are made as a bedroom slipper and are not appropriate
for dance class.
- Students must wear dance shoes if their
tights cover their feet.
Hair for all students:
All students must have hair confined
and pulled away from the face and off of the neck. The proper
hairdo for girls is a bun. This can be achieved by pulling hair
into a ponytail, wrap hair around the rubber band into a ball
and securing in place with a scrunchy and bobbi-pins. Long hair,
bangs, braids and beads on boys and girls can be harmful and cause
injury to the student’s face. Student must be able to turn,
stretch and move their head and body without hair flying around
their face and neck. Class is where you learn and practice the
self-discipline that prepares you for performances. Any student
who performs during the school year must have hair sleek to the
head and free of all beads and ornamentation.
