Letitia Hubbard, Art Director

Pine Forest artwork has been seen around Jacksonville including the airport, the Fair and the annual Duval County Elementary Art Show.

Art students are taught to use skills and techniques to produce creative works of art. Originality is stressed as well as the proper execution of composition and design. Various artists and their work are introduced for aesthetic and cultural analysis.

All students go to the Cummer Art Museum through a generous grant. Students are shown slides by the art teacher and docents guide them through the museum to see the actual artwork studied. A favorite place is the Art Connections where students are able to explore art-related activities.

Fourth and fifth grade students may audition to participate in an advanced art group. Emphasis is based on furthering their technical skills and creativity. A highlight of this class is the "sketching" field trips they take around the city.

The school year is concluded with the annual Art Festival. The day is filled with hands-on activities for the students to produce various art works to take home. Parental involvement is key to making this day a success.
