Dr. James Young - Principal

Dr. Young comes to Ribault with a record of successfully raising student achievement   He is celebrated for his focus on academics, belief in good discipline, commitment, and leadership ability .  Dr. Young received  his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of North Florida.  Dr. Young has served the Duval County School System and Clay County School System since July, 1993.  He has elementary, middle, high school and military experience.  Here is a quick look at his experience:

Ywanna Allen - Assistant Principal

Ms. Ywana Allen is a native Floridian and a product of Duval County Public Schools, having graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1994. She holds a B.A. Degree in Mass Communications – Broadcast Journalism from Bethune-Cookman University and a M.Ed. Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida. Ms. Allen began teaching in 1999, and has taught English, Journalism and Reading for Volusia County Schools, Atlanta Public Schools and Duval County Public Schools. She has served an English Language Arts teacher, Instructional Coach and Compliance Officer at Jean Ribault High School, and was voted Ribault's "Teacher of the Year" in 2007-2008. Currently as an Assistant Principal & Instructional Leader, she is responsible for one of three small learning communities, which includes the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Early College, and Graduation Initiative (GI) programs. As a house administrator, her key responsibilities are monitoring instruction and assessments, analyzing student data and enforcing discipline. Additionally, she serves as the school’s good news ambassador, monitors safety nets & extended learning opportunities, manages educational partnerships including the University of Florida Alliance and Jacksonville Public Library, as well as all aspects of planning and implementation for community meetings, the “Principal’s Power Hour,” and alumni, faith based, volunteer and community relations.


 

Robie Cornelious - Assistant Principal


 

Scott Schneider - Assistant Principal

Mr. Schneider is currently in his 10th year as an educator in the state of Florida.  He is in his 4th year as an Assistant Principal at the High School Level.  He recently came to Ribault after leaving a High School that he helped move from 10 points away from an FCAT school grade of an "F" to a FCAT school grade of a "C" in just three years.  Mr. Schneider's education includes graduating from Terry Parker High School, a Bachelors of Education Degree from the University of North Florida, and a Masters of Education Degree from the University of North Florida. 

Mr. Schneider is the Assistant Principal for the House B Community here at Ribault High School. 

He is committed to 3 specific priorities:

  • Ensuring the safety of all students
  • Ensuring the same academic opportunity for Ribault High students as any other student throughout Duval County
  • Supporting teachers to provide students with the appropriate academic opportunity

 

John Stafford - Assistant Principal

Mr. Stafford holds a B.S. degree in Social Studies from Edward Waters College and a M.Ed. Degree from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University . Mr. Stafford is responsible for monitoring assessments and instruction, conducting weekly departmental meetings, analyzing student data, and evaluating teacher performance to make appropriate recommendations to the principal.


 

Kimberly Wiggins -Assistant Principal

Ms. Kimberly Wiggins currently serves as the assistant principal of curriculum and instruction at Jean Ribault High School.  Prior to arriving at Ribault, she was assistant principal at Paxon School for Advanced Studies. She has 26 years of experience in the educational community, serving for thirteen years in Europe with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools. Prior to departing for Europe with the Department of Defense, she taught math and science at Forrest High School.   Upon her return to the United States, she transitioned to administration at Paxon School for Advanced Studies. She attended Mars Hill College and Florida State University, and obtained her master’s degree from Jacksonville University. Ms. Wiggins holds certification in the following areas: Math (7-12), Biology and Educational Leadership.
