About David Burrell
David Burrell has taught for nine years, most of that time in Duval County. He believes that if you respect students they will trust and respect you in return and that, through this mutual respect, students will improve in every aspect of their lives.
As an educator, Mr. Burrell constantly assesses his own instruction to better fit it to the students. He uses technology in the classroom to enhance lessons which would otherwise be taught using only a textbook. He also fosters a structured, caring environment that allows him to reach out to students not only as a teacher, but as a confidant, counselor, and friend.
“Children respect me and learn from my instruction because I take the time to get to know them. As an educator, I see myself as a strong classroom manager that guides children through academia by modeling, providing encouragement, supporting character building and teaching respect.”
David Burrell
“Mr. Burrell is the greatest, nicest teacher in the whole school. I’ve never seen him be rude to a student in my five years of being at Central Riverside Elementary School. I think Mr. Burrell should be teacher of the year because he is very thoughtful.”
Kira - 4th grade student, Central Riverside Elementary
“I am quite impressed by David’s ability to adjust well in any situation or grade level. During the course of his employment David has been an able employee, a hard worker and a talented young man. He always displays a positive attitude and calmness in his classroom.”
