Congratulations to Marjoire Nolan for winning this year's Duval County Teacher of the Year award.

"The Teacher of the Year program honors teachers in our schools who have gone above and beyond for the students of Duval County," said Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals. "These individuals are a great representation of the more than 8,000 highly devoted and inspirational teachers in our district."

Each year, outstanding teachers in Duval County are recognized. The process focuses on choosing the best and the brightest teacher at each public school for recognition at a celebration called The EDDY Awards and is hosted by the Jacksonville Public Education Fund. To compete, a teacher must submit a lengthy written document, be observed in the classroom and be interviewed. The process alone increases awareness of the “best practices” that can be employed at each school in the system. Both the process and celebration involve the community, principals, cluster chiefs and teachers.

Recognition begins at the school level, progresses to the regional, and culminates at the district level with The EDDY Awards gala – a black-tie event lauding the county’s teachers most deserving of recognition. The gala captures a snapshot of the best of the best in public education and highlights great accomplishments in Duval County Public Schools.

Duval County Public Schools operates more than 160 schools and serves approximately 123,000 students. The school district is committed to providing high quality educational opportunities that will inspire all students to acquire and use the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a global economy, and culturally diverse world.
