Windy
Hill Extended Day
2010-2011
The Windy
Hill Extended Day Program is designed to enrich the lives of
students educationally, socially, culturally, emotionally,
and physically, while affording working parents services at
a reasonable fee.
Snack Time
A time is
set aside during the afternoon session for snack time. A
healthy nutritious snack and drink will be provided daily
free of charge to all students.
Curriculum/Activities
The
curriculum used by the Extended Day program is utilized on a
regular basis. Included in the curriculum are the following
activities:

Tutoring –
Academic tutoring will be provided by certified teachers
based on students needs.
·
Computer
Activities – students in Extended Day will have bi-weekly
access to Windy Hill’s state of the art computer lab.
·
Academic
Enrichment Activities- daily activities consisting of
lessons based on popular children’s books. They include
read aloud, literacy, math and craft activities relating to
literature selections.
·
Art and
Crafts – Art activities give your child a chance to be
creative. Activities are often related to the academic
enrichment literature, seasons and holidays, as well as
weekly arts and crafts.
·
Recreation/PE/Fitness – Students participate in physical
outside activities daily, weather permitting. Aerobics to
music, basketball, soccer are just a few of the activities
that take place.
·
Homework
assistance is provided daily from 3:30 – 4:00. During the
time provided for homework children also have the
opportunity to read books that can count toward their
million word book campaign.
·
Life Skill
Activities – gardening, cooking and indoor games.
