Community
and Business Partner Information
Windy
Hill Elementary School’s Community Business Partners
We are fortunate to have
several community business partners at Windy Hill Elementary
School this year. Our partners are CrossRoads UMC, Deutsche
Bank Securities Inc, Publix (off of Southside), Forest
Baptist Church, Mechanix Choice and the Windy Hill
Elementary School PTA.
These partners are
invaluable to our school, teachers, students and families.
They have provided volunteers to clean and landscape our
campus before school started. They provided school supplies
and bookbags for families that needed help to prepare for
school. We had volunteers on the first day of school to help
register students, help families find classrooms and help
teachers get materials to parents as they brought their
students to school.
The PTA provided a new
refrigerator for our school and a welcome back breakfast for
our staff. They sponsor our family nights; provide funding
for class and school projects such as our writing and
science camps and our spring musical. We hope everyone will
join the PTA!
Future projects that our
partners will be helping with are providing vision and
hearing screenings for all children, glasses for children,
school book fairs, Saturday Science Sessions, Jr.
Achievement activities and serving as Homeroom Parents. They
will be mentoring and tutoring students that need additional
support to be successful. We will be participating in the
Rita Run to raise money for our student welfare fund, this
fund provides breakfast/lunch money for children that do not
have it and have not been approved through the free/reduced
lunch program.
One of the biggest
projects that our partners are working on together is the
Blessings in a Bag project. They have established a
school food pantry and provide bags of food for about 35 –
40 families every two weeks. Many of these families are
experiencing the loss of a job or health emergencies and
need additional help as they get back on their feet. We are
so fortunate to have a community that wants to help our
families when they are facing difficult times.
If your family has a need
we hope you will let Ms. Sanders, (or Ms. Robin or Ms. Lisa
in the office) know so we can be of assistance to you. The
information about a family’s needs is not shared with anyone
and we are very careful not to make any of our children feel
uncomfortable about receiving help through our partners.
If you want to be a part
of any of our special projects here at the school please
fill out the back of this form and turn it in to your
student’s teacher!
Thank you for joining our work for all
children,
Sharon Sanders, Principal
