This is my fourth year teaching at Windy Hill
and my 22nd year teaching elementary school. I
was born overseas and attended schools all over
the world. I have a B.A. in Elementary
Education from the University of North
Florida. In addition to my elementary teaching
certificate, I am certified to teach mathematics
and science through the ninth grade.
My husband of 27 years and I have two grown
sons, Andrew and Aaron.
I enjoy cycling, learning foreign languages, and
falling into a great book. Some of my favorite
authors are Roald Dahl, Kate Dicamillo, Beatrix
Potter, Kenneth Graham and Shel Silverstein. I
also admire the art of Maurice Sendak, Graeme
Base, Bill Watterson, J.J Grandville and M. C.
Escher.

Welcome to Third grade! I am Mrs.
Gower and I am proud to be teaching third grade
again this year! I will be teaching ELA and my
partner Mrs. Kennedy will be teaching Math and
Science. This is my 6th year at Windy Hill and I
have taught grades 3rd-5th at various points of my
12 year teaching career. I have a Bachelor's Degree
in Elementary Education with a focus on English, and
my Master's Degree in Reading which I received from
Binghamton University. I am ESOL certified and would
like to go back to College to get a degree in
Spanish. I helped Windy Hill implement its first
mentoring program last year and will continue
working as a mentoring coordinator with our
mentoring partners Big Brothers Big Sisters.
I am married to Clancy and we have a
daughter named Abigail. Abby will be going into 1st
grade at Windy Hill this year. Our family includes
3 cats named, Kobe, Morgan, and Cleo and a Harlequin
Great Dane named Mona. Our family has fun going
to the beach every weekend, taking Mona to play at
the dog park with other Great Danes, doing crafts,
and watching movies. I enjoy scrapbooking, reading,
and my favorite sport is hockey. Our family took a
big vacation this summer driving out and staying in
New Orleans for a week. We had a great time, tried
to stay cool, ate new foods like crawfish, and
learned lots of their local history! Now I am ready
to start this exciting new year!!
I can't wait to meet my new class
and introduce them to the wonderful world of reading
and writing.

Mrs. Hopkins
Kindergarten Teacher
Room 66

This will be my third year at Windy
Hill Elementary. I began my teaching career at Windy
Hill as an intern in the fall of 2008. After being
in Kindergarten for 2 years, I was promoted to 1st
Grade this year! I currently co-teach with Ms.
Martin in our ESOL classroom. I am so excited for
another year at Windy Hill! I hold a Bachelor's
Degree in Pre-K/Primary Education from the
University of North Florida and am certified K-6. I
moved to Jacksonville in 2006 from Marietta,
Georgia, where the rest of my family lives.
I live in Neptune Beach with my
husband Paul and our 2 cats, Baby and Magnolia, who
is named for the street where we live. Our cats are
our "fur kids". We enjoy going to the beach, being
outside, riding our bikes, cooking, and watching
movies. A few of my hobbies include reading books,
especially non-fiction, running in races (I am
training for my 3rd marathon!), and traveling. This
summer Mr. Hopkins and I spent a month traveling in
the South American country of Peru! We saw so many
cool things, learned a lot about the Peruvian people
and history, and took lots of pictures. Ask me about
Machu Picchu or Alpacas!
I am so excited to start the year and
get to know all my new students!
