Hello, I have been happily teaching since 1988.  I am a child advocate, and my goal as a teacher is to instill the love of reading.  I believe all other subjects will be easier if our children read, read, read!

I am married to E.J. McKnight. He teaches Seniors at Stanton.  We have raised 6 children who have thankfully provided us with 13 grandchildren...only two are girls!

I am thrilled to be at Windy Hill and am looking forward to working with your children.

Hello you've reached the webpage of Brenda K. Nixon.  I'm an educator at Windy Hill elementary school.  I'm currently teaching second grade.  I've been teaching at Windy Hill for the past 14 years.  I've also been teaching for 14 years.  I have had the honor of teaching grades K through 5 here at Windy Hill.  This community has become a part of my extended family.

A little more about myself.  I'm married with 2 sons ages 19 and 11. My oldest son is attending Florida Memorial in Miami, FL.  I'm a big believer in higher education.  At the same time I realize the foundations in education are very important.  My desire as an educator is to plant a seed in the minds of my students.  I want each student to know that he or she can make a difference in the world.  I want my students to know that every change does not have to be gigantic.  If we can make a lot of small changes they add up.

I enjoy attending services at the Harvest Dome.  I'm on the choir and I'm a part of the leadership class for aspiring ministers.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I try to live each day as if it's my last.  I treat each and every student as if he or she is my own child.  I'm a firm believer in respecting each student and gaining the trust of the student through proving myself trust worthy.  I'm a native New Yorker and learned the lessons of respect and trust  prior to being released form the state. I'm just joking.  I did attend college in New York for one year prior to joining the military.  I was in The United States Army for four years.  I had a 2 year tour in Europe.  I enjoyed visiting many different places while in Europe.  I gained a new understanding of being a foreigner.  My knowledge and understanding became more broad after this experience.

I graduated from UNF with my Bachelors degree in education.  I will be going back to school for my masters.  I do know that we never stop learning.  I also understand that learning comes disguised sometimes.  I'm often on the lookout for opportunities to learn something new.

I welcome you to second grade.  I also welcome you to a year of fun and learning.  If you need to get in touch with me I can be reached at Windy Hill Elementary 904-565-2700.  My email address is robinsonb@duvalschools.org.  I look forward to working with you this year.
