The Information
Technology Academy provides an exceptional opportunity for students
to work through a rigorous schedule that includes computer
troubleshooting, Web development, computer electronics, and computer
networking using Cisco systems. After successfully completing
courses, students will have the opportunity to take the CompTIA A+
Exam, CompTIA NET+ Exam, and/or the Cisco Certified Network
Associate (CCNA) Exam. Outstanding students will have the
opportunity to get internships and/or on-the-job training.
William M. Raines High
School provides students a "Jump Start to Success" through a summer
information technology camp. The computer labs are equipped with the
latest technology and software. The IT Academy has support from the
community in the form of alliances with different businesses in
Jacksonville and the parents of the students involved in the
academy.
These available
resources ensure the success of the students, and in turn, the
graduates from W. M. Raines that have gone through the academy are
eligible to become members of the Business Professionals of America.
