Ms. Mitchell (Principal)
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Tarsha Nichole Mitchell. I am a graduate of the University of North Florida. I have been in education for 17 years and taught every grade K-5. I spent 3 years in Newport News, VA where I was Hilton Elementary Teacher of the Year. I began my principalship at Hyde Park Elementary in 2005 and after four glorious years I was named principal of North Shore K-8 School where I spent the last two years.
I am the mother of two children. Tevin, 18 year old, freshman at University of North Florida and Kevia, 14 year old, freshman at Mandarin High School. In addition to my children I also have a 2 year old black and white Pomchi (Pomeranian Chihuahua) named Major and a very old, orange stripped, Tabby named Zeus.
Ms. Shore (Assistant Principal)
I have been privileged to be a student, a teacher, and now an Administrator in Duval County Public Schools. I began my career teaching first grade at John Love Elementary. After four years I moved to R. V. Daniels as an instructional coach. The following year I assisted in moving R. V. Daniels to John E. Ford K-8 and opening the first K-8 school in Duval County. I enjoyed my time as an instructional coach and am pleased to have those skills to use in my new position. I came to Abess Park on February 14, 2011… a very sweet Valentine’s Day. I am thankful every day to work with such an exceptional faculty, student body, and parent community. Abess Park is full of shining stars!!!!
Ms. Curran (Bookkeeper and Executive Secretary)
My name is Ann Curran and I am the Bookkeeper for Abess Park Elementary. In my position of bookkeeper, I handle all the financial records and payroll for our school, as well as other tasks within the office area of the school. I began working for Duval County Public Schools in August of 1999 as the Bookkeeper at Arlington Elementary and was promoted to the Bookkeeper II position at Abess Park in January of 2004. Prior to working for the school system, I held different positions within local banking institutions from 1985 through 1993 and I was a stay at home mom from May of 1993 through August 1999. Although I do not hold a degree, I completed two years of college from Indiana University where my major was Mathematics. I began studying piano at the age of 8 and have been actively involved in music throughout most of my life. I am the pianist for my church and my husband and I have a ministry at the Atrium retirement home where we sing for the residents on Sunday afternoons. We have three children and enjoy our family time together by going to Jaguar games, attending other sporting events, watching movies, visiting theme parks, attending church events, and just hanging out together.
If I can be of any assistance to you in the financial aspects of our school, please contact me.
