Ms. Gerber

My name in Kim Gerber and I have been lucky enough to have been teaching 2nd grade at Abess Park since my first year teaching six years ago.   I have lived in Jacksonville for a long time and went to public schools in Duval County including Merrill Road and Sabal Palm Elementary, Landmark Middle School, and Sandalwood High School.  I attended Florida State University and graduated from University of North Florida with a degree in Elementary Education.  In 2007, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Early Childhood Education.  On the weekends and in the summer I enjoy watching and attending Florida State and Jaguar football games, going to the beach, traveling to new places, and spending time with my friends and family.

Ms. Knopp

Hi! I'm Kim Knopp and have proudly taught at Abess Park since January 2000. My first 6 years at the "Park" I taught third grade and this is my second year teaching second grade.  I grew up in the beaches area and attended Fletcher High School, then began college. I realized my love for teaching as my three daughters were attending school. I continued on to the University of  North Florida where I graduated Magna cum Laude. Currently my daughters are all in college, we try to get together as much as possible to go camping or just spend some time on the beach.

Ms. Lewallen

Hi! My name is Carolyn Lewallen. I was born and raised here in Jacksonville. I graduated from Sandalwood High School. And after several years of volunteering at school when my children were young, I went college. I graduated Magma Cum Laude with my BA in Elementary Education from the University of North Florida. This is my seventh year teaching here at Abess Park. I have taught 6 of those years in 2nd grade and one year in 1st grade. I enjoy working in the primary grades and watching my students grow and blossom throughout the year. I feel very fortunate to work with such incredible teachers and staff. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, scrapbooking, and shopping.

Ms. Rieber

I have taught school for 16 years. I graduated from University of Florida. Go Gators! I started my teaching career teaching Pre-K, then 4th and 5th grades at Andrew Robinson Elementary. During my time there I went back to school and got my masters in Elementary Education with a specialization in technology at UNF. Then I worked with the science department through a grant Duval County Schools received helping elementary teachers, grade k-5, teach science and math. I was very blessed to have gotten the opportunity to work with that grant. Through that grant I learned so much about teaching. But I also learned that the classroom is where I love to be. I have been at Abess Park for the last 7 years teaching second grade.  During my time at Abess Park I received my National Board Teaching Certificate. I really feel blessed to be at Abess Park. It is a great school with a wonderful staff, great administration, and the best students. I wouldn’t want to teach anywhere else!

Ms. Roberts

I began my teaching career in Chesapeake, Virginia teaching fourth grade.  My degree is from Old Dominion University. I have taught second through sixth grade and found that second grade is my "true love".  The students are endearing, engaged, and fun.  When not teaching I enjoy reading, bike riding, and spending time with my family.  Abess Park is a wonderful school and I am blessed to work with the best colleagues, administrators, and students.
