Our six member team, representing all of the schools competing in Brain Brawl, competed in the Commissioner's Academic Challenge, a competition among most school districts in Florida. Duval County competes in Group I, the large districts, and last won in 1997. In 2003, they finished third. The competition was held at The Contemporary Resort Convention Center at Walt Disney World, in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, from April 10 through April 12, 2008. Team Duval won their first round and moved to the semi-finals. They were unable to move to the finals.
A member of the winning team in each group is selected for Team Florida and will represent our state in the National Panasonic Academic Challenge in June, in the same location. Josh Wills, of Mandarin High School, was on Team Florida in 1997.
