Free Sports Physicals!

ACHS in conjunction with the St. Vincent’s Mobile Health Outreach Ministry will be offering free sports physicals to any current students or rising 9th graders on June 5th and June 6th, in the ACHS Auditorium. Male students can receive physicals on June 5th, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Female students can receive physicals on June 6th, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.  Students must bring with them 1) The FHSAA Physical Evaluation Form (EL2), and 2) The St. Vincent’s Consent Form. Page 1 of the EL2 form and the consent form must be completed and signed by a parent prior to getting a physical.  Both forms are available in the ACHS Main Office.  This is the only free physical program in which ACHS will be participating in 2012.

2011-2012 ALL-GATEWAY CONFERENCE ATHLETES

Congratulations to our student-athletes who earned All-Gateway Conference honors in their respective sports. Four of our athletes were named All-Gateway Conference for the second consecutive year, Hannah Schaefer, Swimming; Marissa Orduna, soccer; Kaylie Kirby, tennis; and Angela Greek, softball. Abreona Cabell is the only ACHS athlete to have garnered All-Gateway Conference honors in 2 sports, basketball and track.

Listed below are the first possible practice dates as set by the Florida High School Athletic Association. For more information about actual start dates for ACHS teams contact the head coach for your respective sport.

Home Education Students or Charter School Students
           – Eligibility Reminder

 Home Education or Charter School Students who intend to try-out for a sport at ACHS must notify the school of their intentions prior to the beginning date of the sport they wish to try-out for.

According to the Florida High School Athletic Association Bylaws:
“To Participate in interscholastic athletics, a home education student , or a charter school student, must register with the school his/her intent to participate in interscholastic athletics as a representative of the school before the beginning date of the season for the sport in which he/she wishes to participate….”

THE ATLANTIC COAST 11

The Gateway Conference All-Sports Banquet was held on Monday, May 16th at the Morocco Shrine Temple. Eleven outstanding student-athletes from ACHS were honored for excelling in their particular sport, and became members of a special group – the first All-Conference Athletes in school history. I am very proud of all of these young people for doing such a great job representing their families and our school.  Congratulations to the athletes, parents, coaches and teammates!

This Week in Athletics:
 

Athletic Forms

The following forms are required for students to participate in any athletic program at ACHS. Only students that live in the approved boundary area for Atlantic Coast High School are permitted to participate in ACHS Athletics. Students who intentionally or inadvertently participate in any practice or tryout session with a school for which they will not be attending, may jeopardize their eligibility for next year and the ability to participate at any high school.

bullet  Physical Form (student may provide a valid physical from previous Florida school. Physicals are valid for 365 days.)
bullet Consent and Release.
bullet Compliance Affidavit. (This is only required for students who are currently enrolled in high school.)
bullet Insurance Verification
bullet Original or certified copy of birth certificate (copies will be made at ACHS and copies will be returned to the student.)
bullet Proof of address (First 2 pages of most recent JEA bill.)
