Title: 1.  APPROVAL FOR SCHULTZ CENTER TO SUBLET

Requested Action:
THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE AND CONSENT TO THE SUBLEASE OF A PORTION OF THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE SCHULTZ CENTER TO THE ALLIANCE FOR WORLD CLASS EDUCATION.

Summary Explanation and Background:

On February 1, 2001, the Board entered into a lease with the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership, Inc., for the Schultz Center facility.  The term of that lease is ten (10) years.  Paragraph 9 of the lease requires Board approval of any sublease of the Schultz Center. 

Attached is a letter to the Superintendent from Mr. Fred Schultz requesting that the Board approve the subletting of a portion of the second floor to the Alliance for World Class Education for office space.  The space to be sublet is approximately 720 square feet, which is not currently used, and will house the Alliance staff.  The term will coincide with the existing lease, which terminates on January 31, 2011.
