Requested Action:
RECOMMEND APPOINTMENT OF THE FIRM OF ELKINS CONSTRUCTORS, INC., TO PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL “B” NO. 142 (CHAFFEE ROAD). IF IT DEVELOPS THAT FACILITIES SERVICES STAFF IS UNABLE TO NEGOTIATE A SATISFACTORY AGREEMENT WITH THE FIRM OF ELKINS CONSTRUCTORS, INC., THEY ARE AUTHORIZED TO NEGOTIATE A SATISFACTORY AGREEMENT WITH ONE OF THE REMAINING FIRMS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONSULTANTS’ COMPETITIVE NEGOTIATIONS ACT.
Summary Explanation and Background:
The project is for the construction of a new prototype elementary school for 788 student stations.
The Professional Services Committee of the Duval County School Board met on May 23, 2005, and recommended the firm of Elkins Constructors, Inc.
This proposal has been reviewed by the Office of Minority Business Affairs and found to be in compliance with Duval County School Board Minority Business Enterprise requirements.
