Title: 7. MODIFICATIONS TO THE 2005-2006 STUDENT PROGRESSION PLAN
Requested Action:
APPROVE THE 2005-2006 STUDENT PROGRESSION PLAN.
Summary Explanation and Background:
Florida Statute 1008.25 requires each school board to establish a comprehensive program for student progression. The revisions to the 2005-2006 Student Progression Plan are outlined in the attachments. There are 15 revisions that have a major impact on student progression. The remaining changes are for purposes of alignment with state statutes, clarification, readability, clerical accuracy, and the elimination of redundant and obsolete language.
The Student Progression Plan committees developed the plan. Membership on these committees included teachers, guidance counselors, school administrators, district administrative staff, and DTU and parent representatives. The revisions are the result of this collaborative effort.
The Summary of Major Revisions and the Strikethrough and Final Plan copies of the 2005-2006 Student Progression Plan will be sent to the Board under separate cover.
As required by Chapter 120, Florida Statutes, a public hearing regarding these revisions was conducted on May 3, 2005.
