Title: 4. EVENING MEAL PROGRAM
Requested Action:
RECOMMENDED THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE AN EVENING MEAL PROGRAM AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE CHILDREN'S COMMISSION TO BE PROVIDED AT THE DUVAL COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Summary Explanation and Background:
To better serve the children of Duval County, the City of Jacksonville Children's Commission has requested that the Duval County School District Food Service Department supply food services for the Evening Meal Program.
In the continuing relationship with the City of Jacksonville Children's Commission, the community's students would be better served through the existing Food Services Department's ability to prepare hot, fresh meals and snacks at each location. The Children's Commission would remain the sponsor agent and would request that approximately 1,700 evening meals per day and 2,000 snacks per day are provided after school at twenty-eight schools. All costs for providing this program will be reimbursed to the school district from the Children's Commission. The program will improve the financial and operational solvency for the overall Duval County School District's Food Services Program.
The preparation and service of these meals will employ approximately 24 additional personnel. This request covers the 2005-2006 academic year. This program has been an annual involvement since 1999.
