Title: 1. MAINTENANCE RENEWAL - EXCENT SOFTWARE
Requested Action:
RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF MAINTENANCE RENEWAL - EXCENT SOFTWARE WITH HORIZON SOFTWARE SYSTEMS IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $121,428.
Summary Explanation and Background:
This is a request by the General Director, Exceptional Student Education to provide maintenance renewal for Excent software for the period October 1, 2005, through September 30, 2006. The maintenance renewal provides the following: Annual software updates based on Federal regulations and technology changes, hardware evaluation, system implementation consulting, product updates, help desk support, custom modifications to the software, provision of CD’s or discs, site visits for update and revision meetings, continuous update information provided via e-mail and postal service and training assistance. Continuation of the EXCENT Software contract serves as a bridge to continue support of IEP development for the seventh and last year. The EXCENT contract will then phase out in one year as the new ENCORE! IEP/Medicaid, web-based IEP phases in during the year. The new system is under construction and training begins this fall with the first 15 schools. It is expected that all ESE students will have IEP's developed on the new ENCORE! System during the 2006-07 school year, provided technology is available in all schools to support the web-based system. At that point the EXCENT system will be totally phased out.
This purchase is being made in accordance with Florida Administrative Rule 6A-1012 which allows the school district to enter into direct negotiations when purchasing information technology resources.
This purchase will be made with IDEA funds.
