Requested Action:

RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF PURCHASE OF TUTORIAL SERVICES FROM PRINCIPLE WOODS INC. IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $180,000.

Summary Explanation and Background:

Lola M. Culver and West Jacksonville Elementary schools have chosen to use Title I School Improvement funds to purchase tutorial services from Principle Woods Inc. The “Principle Woods” program is a proprietary tutoring program for mathematics and reading which uses daily onsite, small group instruction, coordinated by classroom teachers. The program uses computer assisted instruction with scientifically based reading and mathematics software. Tutors have a bachelors degree or higher and are screened and trained. (This is a continuation of services begun last year and authorized by the Board July 6, 2004.)  This purchase will be made with Title I funds.
