Title: 1. DONATION OF A STRIP OF LAND TO THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE FOR ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY AND SIDEWALKS AT NEW BERLIN ROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO.150

Requested Action:

RECOMMED THE APPROVAL OF THE DONATION OF A STRIP OF LAND TO THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE FOR ROAD RIGHT‑OF‑WAY AND CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALKS AT THE NEW BERLIN ROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 150.

 

RECOMMEND THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AUTHORIZE ITS CHAIRMAN AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS TO EXECUTE EACH DOCUMENT WHEN FORM APPROVED BY THE OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL.

Summary Explanation and Background:

The district is currently constructing a new elementary school on New Berlin Road, in the Oceanway area of Jacksonville.  One of the requirements of the approved site plan is to include owner-constructed acceleration and deceleration traffic lanes, as well as sidewalks. 

 

By donating the underlying right‑of‑ way to the City of Jacksonville, the city will take over ownership and all future maintenance of these improvements. 

 

The area to be donated is 20 ft. x 1,353 ft. and is located on the road frontage along New Berlin Road.  The area of dedication contains approximately   0.62 acres.  For reference, the real estate parcel number is 106382-0100 as shown in the official records of the Duval County Property Appraiser’s office.

Financial Impact:
By donating this strip of land to the City, the district will be relieved of future maintenance costs of the roadway and sidewalk improvements.
