Title: 2. MAINTENANCE RENEWAL - VERITAS NETBACKUP SOFTWARE
Requested Action:
THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE THE VERITAS NETBACKUP SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE WITH VERITAS SOFTWARE GLOBAL LLC IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $107,734.30.
Summary Explanation and Background:
This is a procurement request by the Chief Technology Officer, Division of Technology to renew maintenance for Veritas NetBackup software for the period January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007. This maintenance renewal will provide the following: extended support - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, a toll free support line, problem solving, problem tracking, bug reporting, clarification of documentation, patches and bug fixes, new releases and versions. This software provides for disaster recovery and business continuity and is used to protect our most mission critical SAP and GENESIS systems.
Purchase is being made in accordance with Florida Administrative Rule 6A-1.012 which allows the school district to enter into direct negotiations when purchasing information technology resources.

2004 - $78,783 (First Year for Software Maintenance)
2003 - No prior year maintenance expenses. Original purchases for many different servers occurred during this time and earlier.
