Title: 3.  NEW SCHOOL "DD" K-8 NO. 274 (103^RD STREET AND CONNIE JEAN ROAD): SELECTION OF CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Requested Action:
THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE THE APPOINTMENT OF AJAX BUILDING CORPORATION TO PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW SCHOOL "DD" K-8 NO. 274 (103RD STREET AND CONNIE JEAN ROAD).  IF IT DEVELOPS THAT FACILITIES SERVICES STAFF IS UNABLE TO NEGOTIATE A SATISFACTORY AGREEMENT WITH THE FIRM OF AJAX BUILDING CORPORATION, THEY ARE AUTHORIZED TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE SECOND MOST QUALIFIED FIRM. FAILING ACCORD WITH THE SECOND MOST QUALIFIED FIRM, THEN THE FACILITIES SERVICES STAFF IS AUTHORIZED TO NEGOTIATE AND REACH AGREEMENT WITH THE THIRD MOST QUALIFIED FIRM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONSULTANTS’ COMPETITIVE NEGOTIATIONS ACT.

Summary Explanation and Background:

The project is for the construction of a new K-8 school for 1200 student stations.

The Professional Services Committee of the Duval County School Board met on April 23, 2007, and recommended the firm of Ajax Building Corporation.
