Title: 1.  EXTENSION OF THE LEASE-PURCHASE LICENSE AGREEMENT AND OPTION TO PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH THE BRIDGE OF NORTHEAST FLORIDA, INC., FOR THE PURCHASE OF BEULAH BEAL YOUNG PARENTS' CENTER NO. 11

Requested Action:

THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE A NINETY (90) DAY EXTENSION OF THE LEASE-PURCHASE LICENSE AGREEMENT AND OPTION TO PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH THE BRIDGE OF NORTHEAST FLORIDA, INC., FOR THE PURCHASE OF BEULAH BEAL YOUNG PARENTS CENTER NO. 11.  THE LEASE-PURCHASE LICENSE AGREEMENT WAS PREVIOUSLY APPROVED AT THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING ON JULY 10, 2006.

THAT THE BOARD AUTHORIZE THE CHAIRMAN AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS TO EXECUTE A NINETY (90) DAY EXTENSION OF THE LEASE-PURCHASE LICENSE AGREEMENT, AND ALL OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, WHEN FORM APPROVED BY THE OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL.

THAT THE BOARD AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF REAL PROPERTY TO MAKE NON-SUBSTANTIVE OR NON‑MATERIAL CHANGES TO THE AGREEMENT WITHOUT SEEKING ADDITIONAL BOARD ACTION.

Summary Explanation and Background:

The Bridge of Northeast Florida, Inc., has requested a ninety (90) day extension of their lease-purchase license agreement and option to purchase Beulah Beal Young Parents Center, which was declared surplus by the Board on May 2, 2006.  Chapter 1013.15 of the Florida Statutes states “…a board may lease any land, facilities, or educational plants owned by it to any person or entity for such term, for such rent, and upon such terms and conditions as the board determines to be in its best interests; any such lease may provide for the optional or binding purchase of the land, facilities, or educational plants by the lessee upon such terms and conditions as the board determines are in its best interests.”

The extension to the lease-purchase license agreement will be for ninety (90) days.

The proposed lessee, The Bridge of Northeast Florida, Inc., will be responsible for all expenses associated with the maintenance and upkeep of the facility,
