Title: 3. DISTRICTWIDE ROOF REPLACEMENT, STAGE II (CHIMNEY LAKES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 232, SABAL PALM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 239, AND ALIMACANI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 257): CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARD DCSB PROJECT NO. M-85600
Requested Action:
THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARD TO THE LOWEST BIDDER, BBG CONTRACTING GROUP, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,384,000, ACCEPTING THE BASE BID AND A BUDGET AMENDMENT RESOLUTION FOR A NEW METAL ROOF AT SABAL PALM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 239.
THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AUTHORIZE THE CHAIRMAN AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS TO EXECUTE THE STANDARD FORM OF AGREEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION WHEN FORM APPROVED BY THE OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL.
Summary Explanation and Background:
On December 5, 2006, the Board increased the original project scope to include Sabal Palm Elementary School No. 239, to provide a new metal roof at the school. The existing roof system at Sabal Palm is severely deteriorated and this project will provide a long-term system we expect to last for 30-40 years. This contract award is for Sabal Palm Elementary School No. 239 only.
Facilities Services Division staff opened bids on June 20, 2007.
This project was listed on the Board approved 04-05 Major Maintenance List and 06-07 Major Maintenance List, line item no. 39.
This bid has been reviewed by the Office of Minority Business Affairs and found to be in compliance with Duval County School Board Minority Business Enterprise requirements.
