Title: 4. Course Recommendations for Approval to the District Course Title File
Requested Action:
THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE SECONDARY COURSE OFFERINGS FOR ADDITION TO THE DISTRICT COURSE TITLE FILE AS RECOMMENDED for the 2007-2008 academic year.
Summary Explanation and Background:
The courses listed are designed to enhance a program of study unique to the following high schools:
- Robert E. Lee: Forensic Sciences I (2002480), an integrated biological and physical sciences curriculum with a focus on problem solving. This course is designed for the Mathematics and Science track of the Mathematics, Science and Engineering Academy magnet.
- Douglas Anderson School of the Arts: Course title change from Introduction to Music Performance and Eurhythmics to Sound Engineering and Sound Reinforcement I (1301400). The course title change more effectively reflects the major concepts and content currently presented and will allow the course to be assessed under the state Merit Award Pay program.
- Paxon School For Advanced Studies: Environmental Systems IB (2001370), an integrated laboratory science course that provides students a perspective on a wide range of pressing environmental issues. This course may be adopted by the IB programs at Stanton and Ribault high schools.
