Requested Action:

THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARD TO THE LOWEST BIDDER, PHOENIX ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $117,949, FOR THE PROJECT AT SABAL PALM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 239 AND MANDARIN OAKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 258, AND A BUDGET AMENDMENT RESOLUTION.

 

THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARD TO THE LOWEST BIDDER, KANE MANUFACTURING CORPORATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $152,438, FOR THE PROJECT AT ABESS PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 263 AND CHETS CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 264, AND A BUDGET AMENDMENT RESOLUTION.

 

THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AUTHORIZE THE CHAIRMAN AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS TO EXECUTE THE STANDARD FORM OF AGREEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION FOR EACH PROJECT, WHEN FORM APPROVED BY THE OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL.

Summary Explanation and Background:

The scope of this project is to furnish and install all Hurricane Shelter protection as required by the specifications at Sabal Palm Elementary School No.239, Mandarin Oaks Elementary School No. 258, Abess Park Elementary School No. 263, and Chets Creek Elementary School No. 264.

 

Facilities Services Department staff opened bids on November 13, 2007.

 

This project was listed on the Board approved Major Maintenance List.

 

This bid has been reviewed by the Office of Minority Business Affairs and found to be in compliance with Duval County School Board Minority Business Enterprise requirements.

The amount of these contracts is within budgeted funds. The projects are proceeding on schedule with an anticipated notice to proceed date of January 28, 2008, construction of 110 calendar days, and an anticipated substantial completion date of June 27, 2008.

 

The planned funding source for these projects is federal grant.
