ADDITIONS, REMODELING, RENOVATIONS AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS AT BILTMORE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 78: CHANGE ORDER NO. 5 FOR C. C. BORDEN CONSTRUCTION, INC. - DCSB PPROJECT NO. C-90660

Requested Action:
RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 5 IN THE ADDITIVE AMOUNT OF $146,817, TO A REVISED CONTRACT AMOUNT OF $1,904,718.34, WITH A 105-DAY TIME EXTENSION TO THE CONTRACT WITH C. C. BORDEN CONSTRUCTION, INC., AND A BUDGET AMENDMENT RESOLUTION.

Summary Explanation and Background:

This capital project will provide a new media center, remodel the existing media center into an administration area, and remodel the old administration into teachers’ workroom and restrooms. 

 

This change is necessary to provide room finishes in administrative offices, changing storefront to accommodate handicapped, extension arms on auto door operators, extend bus canopy to cover wheelchair unloading, replace Plexiglas with glass windows, emergency power for security and fire alarm panels, reinforce existing beams where bearing walls are removed, install additional telephone conduits and hose bibs in Building No. 3. 

 

This project was listed on the Board approved Long Range Capital Outlay Plan Schedule and Major Maintenance List.

Financial Impact:

With approval of this change order, the total of all changes to this contract to date is $287,829.34. 

The amount of this change is within budgeted funds.

The planned funding source for this project is millage.
