Title: 1.ADDITION OF TWO SCIENCE LABS AT PAXON SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDIES NO. 75: CONTRACT AWARD TO DESIGN PROFESSIONAL - DCSB PROJECT NO. C-90130
Requested Action:
RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FIRM OF CRG ARCHITECTS/PLANNERS, INC., TO PROVIDE ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE DESIGN OF THE ADDITION OF TWO SCIENCE LABS AT PAXON SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDIES NO. 75, AT A FIXED PROFESSIONAL FEE OF $286,900, AND A BUDGET AMENDMENT RESOLUTION.
RECOMMEND THAT THE BOARD AUTHORIZE THE CHAIRMAN AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS TO EXECUTE THE STANDARD FORM OF AGREEMENT WHEN FORM APPROVED BY THE OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL.
Summary Explanation and Background:
The scope of the project includes new construction for six (6) science classrooms and remodeling of existing science classrooms, as well as site improvements.
The Professional Services Committee of the Duval County School Board met on July 15, 2002, and recommended the selection of the firm of CRG Architects/Planners, Inc. On August 6, 2002, the Duval County School Board met and approved the increased scope of this project to include a four laboratory addition and renovation of the existing science laboratories with the associated increase in budget.
This proposal has been reviewed by the Director of Minority Business Affairs and found to be in compliance with Duval County School Board Minority Business Enterprise requirements.
Following approval of this item, this project will be renamed “Additions, Remodeling, Renovations and Site Improvements at Paxon School for Advanced Studies No. 75” to more accurately reflect the work being performed.

Financial Impact:
This agreement is based on budgeted construction costs of $3,837,250, and the fixed professional fee includes $26,000, for additional services.
