Requested Action:

1. CONFIRM SUBMISSION OF THE BEACHES RESOURCE CENTER APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,500.00.
2. UPON NOTIFICATION OF AWARD, APPROVE ACCEPTANCE OF THESE GRANT FUNDS AND THEIR BUDGETING IN THE APPROPRIATE PART I, GENERAL REVENUE BUDGET RESOLUTION; AND APPROVE ANY AMENDMENTS REQUIRED TO FULLY IMPLEMENT THIS GRANT.

Summary Explanation and Background:
The Beaches Resource Center will fund an after-school project for Jacksonville Beach Elementary to provide extracurricular activities implemented through Enrichment Labs emphasizing the arts, recreational activities, academic enrichment, and computer skills. The Enrichment Labs will be conducted after school on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Neighborhood children, as well as Jacksonville Beach Elementary students, will be invited to attend. This school-based grant requires school board approval in order to set up the budget in SAP and pay teachers for their after-school hours.
