Title: 8. Lease Agreement between the Duval County Public Schools and Riverwalk Hotels, LLC, for Additional Parking Spaces at the Central Administration Building No. 3001
Requested Action:
RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF A ONE-YEAR LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE DUVAL COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND RIVERWALK HOTELS, LLC., FOR 100 ADDITIONAL PARKING SPACES AT THE CENTRAL ADMINISTRATION BUILDING NO. 3001 AT A COST OF $21,000 PER YEAR.
RECOMMEND THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AUTHORIZE THE CHAIRMAN AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT WHEN FORM APPROVED BY THE OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL.
Summary Explanation and Background:
In an effort to make the Central Administration Building more public friendly, additional parking spaces in the main parking lot need to be reserved for visitors. This will cause a further shortage of available parking for employees. To alleviate that problem we negotiated with representatives of the Riverwalk Hotels, LLC, to lease an additional 100 parking spaces in the parking lot at the former Crawdaddy’s site.
Previously there was a lease with the previous owners of the Riverwalk Hotel for 115 additional parking spaces. It expired in January 1998. The new owners have agreed to lease 100 spaces at the rate of $17.50 per space, per month.
