Title: APPROVAL OF SETTLEMENT WITH MYRON TAYLOR

Requested Action:
THAT THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD APPROVE A SETTLEMENT WITH MYRON TAYLOR NOT TO EXCEED $46,000 IN EXCHANGE FOR HIS RESIGNATION RETROACTIVELY TO MAY 28, 2002.

Summary Explanation and Background:

By letter dated July 12, 2002 the District charged Myron Taylor, a teacher then at Pinedale Elementary School, with misconduct while carrying out his duties as a teacher and with materially falsifying his employment application.  Mr. Taylor requested an Administrative Hearing to challenge the termination.  Human Resource staff has reached a tentative agreement with Mr. Taylor and his attorney in which he will resign in exchange for the salary and benefits he did not receive during the 2001-2002 school year.  This settlement is recommended by the Office of General Counsel.
