REVISED ITEM: Additions, Remodeling, Renovations and Site Improvements at Woodland Acres Elementary School No. 89:  Change Order No. 7 for Beers Skanska, Inc.

Requested Action:
RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 7 IN THE ADDITIVE AMOUNT OF $421,904.72, TO A REVISED CONTRACT AMOUNT OF $5,417,176.24, WITH A 23 27-DAY TIME EXTENSION TO THE CONTRACT WITH BEERS SKANSKA, INC., AND A BUDGET AMENDMENT RESOLUTION.

Summary Explanation and Background:

This project is to provide a new ten-classroom building to replace existing portables, a new cafetorium building, remodeling of existing cafetorium into one art lab and three resource classrooms; renovations of classrooms in Buildings No. 1 and No. 2 and associated site work.  The parking will be expanded with a new parent pick-up and relocation of the bus loop.

This Change Order is necessary to remove existing boiler and piping; use textured paint at masonry walls; paint exterior of Building No. 2; repair cracked subfloor condition in kitchen; replace masonry walls in Building No. 2; include provisions for HVAC replacement in 24 existing classrooms, make revisions to floor finishes in new classroom building, re-install existing casework in ten classrooms; landscaping, and miscellaneous changes required for code compliance. The time extension is necessary to complete the additional work related to the above listed work.

This project was listed on the Board approved Long Range Capital Outlay Plan Schedule.

Change Order No. 7 = $421,904.72 Rev. Const. Contract = $5,417,176.24

With approval of this change order, the total of all changes to this contract to date is $567,175.72. 

The amount of this change is within budgeted funds.
