1. SUPERINTENDENT'S POSITION
   Minutes: Board Chairman Vicki Drake made opening comments and called on Board Member Nancy Broner who led the Board through our last Superintendent search.
   
   Board Member Broner provided the Board with a brief update on the process we followed during the last search.
   
   All Board Members discussed the need for stability at this point in time and the need for a Superintendent who could implement the reforms instituted in the past two years. All agreed that it was not prudent to conduct a search at this time, especially when we have an ideal candidate in Ed Pratt-Dannals. He is a good administrator, communicator, and educator. He knows the community and can keep the district moving forward and is part of the team that helped develop the Core Beliefs and Commitments and Theory of Action for the District. Board Members have heard from members of their community, as well as principals and teachers and all feel that Mr. Pratt-Dannals would bring the stability needed by the District.
   
   Ms. Karen Chastain, Assistant General Counsel, advised the Board on the next steps to be taken in the process of appointing a Superintendent. An agenda item will be prepared for the November 6, 2007, Board Meeting to approve the selection of Ed Pratt-Dannals as the Superintendent, and authorizing General Counsel to enter into contract negotiations. The contract will be brought back to the Board in a Workshop setting and then to a Board Meeting for approval.
