DUVAL COUNTY BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
THIS IS A GRIEVANCE SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING OF THE DUVAL COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD. The meeting was held in the 3rd Floor Conference Room No. 307. All Subcommittee Members were present.

Minutes: The Chairman of the Grievance Subcommittee called the meeting to order at 10:55 a.m..

- CONTINUATION OF STEP IV DTU GRIEVANCE - LINDA KING
Minutes: The Grievance Subcommittee continued their discussion regarding the grievance and reviewed the information provided by staff since they last met.

Mr. David Hertz, General Counsel, Duval Teachers United
Ms. Linda King, Grievant
Mr. David Hertz, General Counsel for DTU, and Ms. Vicki Reynolds, Assistant Superintendent, HRS, both made brief presentations regarding the additional information. The Subcommittee asked questions of those present.

The parties left the room and the Subcommittee deliberated, and made the following recommendation:
"That the relief requested in the case of Linda King be denied."

Minutes: Ms. Priestly Jackson discussed a letter received from Mr. David Hertz, General Counsel for Duval Teachers United, regarding a recent grievance hearing for Mr. Gregory Nowikowski. Mr. Hertz asked for clarification on whether or not the grievant should receive his pay for that portion of the year that had already lapsed when the Subcommittee decision was made. For clarification, the Subcommittee had ruled that Mr. Nowikowski be reappointed for this school year to the first available position for which he was qualified. After discussion, the Subcommittee decided that their ruling did not involve back pay. This decision will be related to Mr. Hertz.
