School EventsOn September 19, 2008 Arlington Heights Elementary celebrated the International Day of Peace which included information on how this day became designated a Day of Peace and the people behind this initiative. Ms. Maria Tuttobene, ESOL Kindergarten Teacher, was instrumental in organizing this event. The Times Union and WJCT as well as the DCPS Communications office came out to support our efforts in promoting Peace in our world, starting with our youngest citizens. Ms. Tuttobene, Ms. K. Parker, and Ms. E. Araya were interviewed by WJCT and the Times Union. Several students were also interviewed, Akuei Nyak, Will Gaskins, Thanh Nguyen, Ashlyn Freeman, Natali Yazji, Francisco Guiffaro and Jeimi Tuttobene. Business Partner News
Wednesday, September 17th, one of our Business Partners, "Pioneers - AT&Telecomunications" distributed books to our students in grades 1 through 5. The organization also distributed gift cards from "School Aids" to the teachers at AHE. Their generosity is appreciated by the teachers and students of AHE.
