About Alimacani

Our School is named after the Timucuan Indian town of Alimacani, meaning, "sweet land by the sea." It was founded in 1990 as an accredited Duval County Elementary School, offering kindergarten through fifth grade for over 1,200 students.

Specialists provide education in guidance, speech, Standards, art, music, physical education, technology, (ESE) Exceptional Student Education, ESE Inclusion Class and Gifted Inclusion Classes.  Alimacani provides a rigorous curriculum while maintaining space and equipment to ensure that...No Child Is left Behind.

The instructional curriculum at Alimacani is Standards-Based.  This is a comprehensive curriculum based on internationally bench-marked standards in reading, writing, language arts, science, mathematics and applied learning.  The program provides students, teachers and parents with elements to meet and /or exceed the Standard.

Our commitment is to develop within each child an understanding of the privileges and responsibilities honored in a democratic society.  We earnestly strive to instill an appreciation for each child's own cultural heritage and impart the importance of valuing the diversity of cultures in our community of learners.

Alimacani supports academic achievement coupled with positive character development development for our community of learners as evidenced through programs such as:
Real Men Read   Author Visit
Parent Fair PTA Tutoring
Volunteers &
Mentoring Program
Bully Proofing Program
Principal's Book of the Month Superintendent's Book Club

Alimacani provides an Extended Day Program that meets the need of our working parents, while enriching the educational opportunities for our students.

Alimacani has earned many awards and celebrations.
