Arlington Elementary is a beautiful “little red brick schoolhouse” in the Old Arlington Section of Jacksonville, Florida. The school was established in 1921, and in its rich 87 year history it has had three additions: one in 1936 (seven classrooms added), another in the 1950’s (a wing of four classrooms), and the last addition in 1990 (five classrooms, and assorted resource rooms). We currently have an enrollment of approximately 260 students. Located on the east-side of the St. John’s River, we have been the first to step out of the heart of the city for years. The population of the Arlington Elementary is 72% African-American, 20% Caucasian, 4% Hispanic, 4% other ethnic groups. We service Pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, and also have Inclusion for our ESE students. Students also receive instruction in Art, Music, and Physical Education each week as well as support from a Guidance Counselor and media Specialist. Our facility hosts a large playground area, auditorium, and a separate cafeteria. Our school colors are blue and white and we proudly display our dolphin mascot on the front ellipse.
