Everyone Achieves More
A team is not established by simply placing a group
of people in the same building who wear shirts with the same logo. A
real team consists of people with unequal experiences, talents, and
education who are equal in their commitment to working together to
achieve the goals of the organization.
A real team does not happen by accident. It is not
the result of chance selection and a shot at blind luck. A real team
develops over time with deliberate additions and deletions. A real team
grows together and makes changes until every player is playing in the
right position.
A team does not operate as individual departments
focused on rigid duties, consistently ensuring that no one takes on the
responsibility of another. A real team operates as a seamless unit.
While understanding the function of its parts, a real team pulls
together and makes sure the overall mission of the organization is
accomplished regardless to whom the task may be assigned.
A real team realizes that the sum is greater than
its parts; that we can accomplish more collectively than we ever could
as individual units. A real team realizes that it is only as strong as
its weakest link, so it is to the advantage of the team to make sure
everyone is equipped with the skills needed to achieve the critical task
of the organization. A real team realizes that every player is vital to
winning the game. Regardless of their position or time on the field,
every player is needed and stands to hold the key to ultimate victory
and success.
I invite you to make a deliberate decision to make
a difference for our students, our school and our community. I invite
you to lend your time, your talents and your heart to the work we must
accomplish this year. I invite you to give teamwork a try. I invite you
to get off the bench and get in the game.
