Academic
Safety Nets

The overall goal of our academic safety net program is to provide extra assistance to those students in grades K-5 who have consistently
performed below academic standards at our school.  We use six criteria to make this determination:

      1.       School-based Screening and Progress Monitoring Assessment (Reading, Math)
2.      Standardized test results (FCAT)
3.      Nine week report card grades
4.      Daily in-class performance
5.      Teacher judgment
6.      Special education considerations

We currently employ six distinct safety net programs that are available before, during and after school hours:

Ø      Composed of our school psychologist, school counselor, grade level regular education and special education teacher, presenting teacher and school ESE liaison

Ø      Teachers bring individual student issues to the team for intervention suggestions and assistance

Ø      Team follows-up on interventions and tracks results

Tutoring before, during and after school

Ø      Three fulltime certified teachers and one part time certified teacher provide individualized tutoring, utilizing push in and pull out models, to students identified as at risk in grades 3-5 during school in reading, writing and mathematics.
