I have been teaching art in the elementary schools since 1987 and have been at Chets Creek since its opening in 1998.  In 1996 I was given the honor of Art Educator of the Year for Duval County by the Jacksonville Cultural Council while teaching at a small school on the westside of town (Hyde Grove Elementary).  As President of the Duval Art Teachers Association, member of the Florida Art Education Association, and National Art Education Association, I have been able to meet and work with some of the best Art Educators in the state and have continued to grow in my profession.  Teaching young children how to work with various art materials, techniques, and processes has, and still is, proving to be an exciting and rewarding career.  Not only does it open their eyes to new possibilities, new solutions, and, different views of the world around them, it also helps them to find creative paths to accomplish designated goals.  I truly love working with all the students at Chets Creek with my goal being to instill an appreciation for and a utilization of all the arts throughout their lives.
