Welcome to fifth grade, I'm Jessie Lipsky and this is my third year teaching English and Language Arts at Chets Creek Elementary. I am a native of Jacksonville, Florida. I grew up in Mandarin and attended Crown Point Elementary, James Weldon Johnson Middle School, and Stanton College Preparatory High School. While attending Florida State University, I decided not to become an actress but pursued my true passion, teaching children. I have been working with children for over 12 years as a teacher, reading tutor, gymnastics coach, camp counselor, and theater director! Because reading is my favorite thing to do I try to find exciting ways to motivate my students to read. In 2007, I was one of the founders of Battle of the Books, a reading competition at Chets Creek! My main goal is to develop a life long love of reading in my students. When I'm not teaching I love to travel. While at Florida State I had the pleasure of studying in London, England for a semester (with Miss Hoffmann, a second grade teacher at Chets Creek!) Since then I have been back to Europe twice and backpacked through England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and France. My favorite experiences were bicycling the streets of Paris, hiking the trails of Monterosso, Italy, and jumping off the cliffs in Wales! I have also traveled all over the United States and California is the next place I must visit! In my free time I enjoy reading, taking pictures, listening to all types of music, camping, baking desserts, and watching the Florida State Seminoles beat all other football teams! I love getting to know my students and their families so please feel free to call, email, or stop by room 123 and say hello! * B.S.
